The number of trees identified by each method (Urban Tree Detection and DeepForest) differed greatly. In Urban Tree Detection, the gap between the crowns of adjacent trees was determined to be the top of trees in many cases, and tree individuals were not properly identified. In the DeepForest, the number of trees identified differed depending on the patch (tree crown) size setting, and smaller patch size settings identified relatively more appropriate tree individuals than other methods. Following these results, it was determined that individual tree identification using AI is difficult at present, and among the tested methods, DeepForest is the method with the most potential, including future expandability.
