The Challenge Course have been developed and utilized by Outward Bound Program in Europe in 1940’s. This unique educational tool has so much history over 70 years spreading its popularity worldwide since its inception. However, Tamagawa Academy and University is the first educational institution to integrate the adventure based program into the school curriculum in this country. It has been for 13 years since Tamagawa Adventure Program have been integrating adventure education into K―12 and University education. The goal for Tamagawa Adventure Program is to facilitate positive educational outcomes such as enhancing self-esteem, communication, team-building and trustful relationships among students within a scope of Zenjin-Education philosophy. The researchers suggest that positive effect of using the Challenge Course that can be seen in mental health, physical fitness, and community development, furthermore, this tool could be used to support healthy growth for students.
