| 内容記述 | This study explored how visualization can improve the quality of early childhood care and education. The researchers interviewed teachers at a private nursery school and asked them to use a new software application to document their observations about the children in their classes. This application allowed them to easily share photographs and comments with the children’s parents. Our analysis of interviews, the actual documentation shared with parents, and the teachers’ visualizations of future contributions to improve education quality revealed the following: (1) when teachers were asked to keep track of what interested the children, they were better able to suggest interesting events and activities for future classes; (2) as the teachers revisited past classes and visualized future stories of children’s learning, they became more aware of the range of“ interest-triggering” topics and activities, and the more such topics and activities they added to classes, the more the children’s interest in the classes grew; and (3) sharing documented evidence of the children’s heightened engagement with the parents further piqued the interest of both the children and their parents. These results suggest that building on children’s interests and involving parents in the process can increase children’s class participation. | |||||||||
